At 9:00 a.m. on January 28, on the beautiful Kangbanoer Lake in winter, accompanied by the solemn national anthem, the 2024 Kangbao First China Ice Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament passionately opened. Leaders and guests, including Luo Zhongyi, President of the International Ice Dragon Boat Federation (IIDBF), Tian Liuliu, Deputy Secretary of the Kangbao County Party Committee, Wang Lianman, Director of the Standing Committee of the Kangbao County People's Congress, and Hu Qirong, Chairman of the Kangbao County Political Consultative Conference, attended the opening event.
At 9:20 a.m., Tian Liuliu announced the start of the 2024 Kangbao First China Ice Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament. Representatives of athletes
and referees took a solemn oath. Leaders and guests jointly participated in the "dragon eye-dotting" ritual to dot the eyes for the ice dragon boats.
Yang Tingting, Deputy Magistrate of Kangbao County, on behalf of the Kangbao County Party Committee and County Government, extended a warm
welcome to all guests athletes, referees, and friends from all walks of life attending the opening ceremony, and expressed sincere gratitude to
the InternationalIce Dragon Boat Federation and Zhangjiakou Municipal Sports Bureau for their guidance on this tournament.
Guided by the International Ice Dragon Boat Federation and Zhangjiakou Municipal Sports Bureau, the tournament is hosted by the Kangbao County
People's Government and undertaken by the Kangbao County Bureau of Education and Sports. It has attracted 18 open-group ice dragon boat teams from
multiple provinces and cities acrossChina and 54 local mass-group ice dragon boat teams, with more than 2,000 participants competing in the 100m and 200m
straight-track races.
The event lasts for 2 days. The top three in each event will be awarded trophies and medals, the top six certificates of merit, and all
participating teams will receive certificates of participation ranking. By holding this event, more people will get to know a vibrant,
dynamic, fast, and passionate Kangbao.
Ice dragon boating is an innovation and extension of the traditional dragon boat sport. It retains the skill and competitiveness of conventional dragon boating, breaks the seasonal limitations of the sport, and is more full of speed and passion. It is a brand-new ice sport integrating competitiveness, teamwork, and entertainment. In recent years, due to its strong public participation, high ornamental value, and rich Chinese traditional cultural characteristics, ice dragon boating has been widely popular in many countries and cities across Asia, North America, and Europe.
